As ocean-based climate research accelerates, it’s critical that science and governance decisions are informed by diverse perspectives. With this funding, Carbon to Sea aims to enable greater participation at COP30 by individuals from underrepresented geographies (e.g., ocean policymakers, ocean science researchers), especially Global South nations.

Carbon to Sea is now accepting applications for Ripple Impact Travel Grants to support travel to COP30 in Brazil. Please submit your application as soon as possible, and before October 15. Carbon to Sea will inform awardees on a rolling basis. We anticipate awarding up to six awards and informing all applicants by October 20.

Grants will be made to support travel and housing costs related to participation in this year’s COP conference, with a goal of strengthening the ocean-climate field with diverse perspectives. Award amounts will be based on the cost of round-trip economy airfare, ground transportation, hotel accommodations, and per diem throughout the duration of the conference. Final award amounts will be made at the discretion of the Carbon to Sea team.
