Today, the Carbon to Sea Initiative, the Marine Environmental Observation, Prediction and Response Network (MEOPAR), and Planetary Technologies announced a new Joint Learning Opportunity (JLO) to advance ocean alkalinity enhancement (OAE) research in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Building on the success of Carbon to Sea’s 2024 JLO funding in Halifax — in partnership with COVE — this new partnership reflects a shared commitment to continuing to deepen our investment and connection to Halifax as a fast-growing hub for marine-climate science like OAE. This funding round will focus on closing knowledge gaps in OAE science, advancing innovative sensing and monitoring methods, and supporting social scientists interested in evaluating public understanding of OAE’s viability and desirability as a method for climate change mitigation.

Interested parties should submit a proposal no later than January 9th, 2026. Learn more about the funding opportunity and how to submit a proposal HERE.
